Light: Bright, filtered light.

Preferred temperature range: 15-30° C.
Will tolerate temperatures as low as 5° C if protected from frost.

* sphagnum moss peat / perlite / orchid bark, or
* Cymbidium orchid mix / perlite

A medium-to-large sized plant that is best grown in a large (160mm) grounded pot. The basal rosette develops into a vine in the plant’s first year, with a new basal bud forming once the vine is about 50cm long. Very vigorous, grows multiple branching vines. The plant pictured here had three vines, each over 1.2m long, before pruning.

This hydrid is the creation of Geoff and Andrea Mansell (Exotica Plants).

Nepenthes maxima
Where found: New Guinea, Sulawesi, and the Maluku Islands.

Altitudinal distribution: 400-2600 m above sea level (lowland/intermediate/highland).

Belongs to the loosely defined “N. maxima complex”, which also includes, among other species, N. boschiana, N. chaniana, N. epiphytica, N. eymae, N. faizaliana, N. fusca, N. klossii, N. platychila, N. stenophylla, and N. vogelii.
